Well-Fed Heart / The Heart Healthy Woman - Bainbridge Island, WA - June 2013 - Present

    PRODUCTION MANAGER
Co-wrote, edited and published the 2014 Well-Fed Heart cardiovascular booklet using up-to-date science and research to educate patients on cardiovascular health and wellness.  Booklets are sold and distributed to hospitals around the country including local Franciscan and Swedish health services.

Houston Methodist Employee Wellness Services - Houston, TX- March 2014 - May 2013
    DIETETIC INTERN
Taught lunch & learn and Wellness@Work classes, produced nutrition and wellness handouts and conducted general nutrition consults to improve employee wellness to the 5,000+ employees of Houston Methodist.

Louisiana State Penitentiary - St Francisville, LA - May 2014
    NUTRITION EDUCATOR
Planned and conducted a large wellness fair to over 250 guardians to inmate's children.  Screened participants for BMI, blood pressure and body composition.  Conducted brief nutrition assessments and provided education to a low-income, highly diverse population.

YMCA Northshore - Bothell, WA - July 2012 - July 2013

    NUTRITION EDUCATOR
Teach a series of classes for children called "Future Chefs".  Teach both the 4-6 year old and 9-12 year old classes about simple cooking techniques such as mixing, spreading, stirring and cutting.  Have presented ACT (Actively Changing Together) presentations to small groups of adults seeking advice on how to adapt a healthy lifestyle as a family.

Teen Feed - Seattle, WA - September 2011 - July 2013
    MEAL-TEAM MEMBER/FUNDRAISER
Provide nutritious, home-cooked meals once monthly for homeless youth of Seattle aged 15-25.  Raised funds for future involvement by leading "Top Chef 2013", an annual fundraiser to continue to support our involvement in  this organization.

Washington State Food & Nutrition Council (WSFNC) conference - Tukwila, WA - October 19, 2012
    VOLUNTEER
Wrote a blog post for WSFNC's social media networks about the conference and its speakers.

WIC Olympics - Greater Seattle area - July 2012 - September 2012
    NUTRITION EDUCATOR
Through a series of events called the "WIC Olympics", I educated children and their parents about the importance of fruits, vegetables, a balanced diet and whole grains by playing games, distributing samples, giving cooking demonstrations, and sharing recipes and resources.

Arrowhead Elementary School - Kenmore, WA - June 2012 - December 2012
    NUTRITION EDUCATOR
Collaborated on a team with other students to write a 6-week curriculum for a local elementary school's after-school nutrition program for grades K-6.  Educated students on topics ranging from easy, balanced breakfasts to healthy beverages and snacks.  Also, constructed parent/student handouts to convey important "take-home" messages, recipes and tips.

Bastyr's 14th Annual Herb & Food Fair - Kenmore, WA - June 2, 2012
    SPEAKER ASSISTANT
Helped speakers set-up, take-down and facilitated a small group break-out session about Annette Cottrell and Joshua McNichol's book "The Urban Farm Handbook".  We demonstrated how to grind grains and made amaranth waffles with wild blackberry jam.

Baked and sold baked goods to raise money for the Student Nutrition Association (SNA).

St John's Creamery - Lake Stevens, WA - May 19, 2012
    VOLUNTEER
With a group of Bastyr students, helped out a local goat dairy farmer sheet mulch a brand-new garden for summer             planting.  In addition to farm chores such as feeding the goats and chickens, learned about organic gardening                     practices, goat milking, and how to make kefir and goat cheese.

Bastyr University's Community Day - Kenmore, WA - April 11, 2012
    SERVER
Assisted the dining commons staff in preparing and serving the annual Community Day luncheon.  Successfully served over 400 staff, students, and faculty a lasagna lunch.  Helped construct and serve a 4-full-sheet cake to commemorate John Bastyr's 100th birthday.

VegFest 2012 - Seattle, WA - March 24 & 25, 2012
    VOLUNTEER AMBASSADOR & NUTRITION EDUCATOR
Represented the Bastyr Center for Natural Health's student clinicians by offering simple nutritional advice on sources of iron, calcium, and protein in a whole-foods based vegetarian diet at Seattle's annual vegetarian expo.
